First I would like to say, I did not use AI to edit my website.
I am a proud Two Spirit Red River Métis citizen, married for 9 years and a mama of a 6 year old. Instead of pronouns, please use my first name, if I am being written about, them/they should be used.
BORN AND RAISED IN WINNIPEG: I grew up in St. Vital, currently, we live a couple of river lots away from where I grew up along the Seine River. Our child can grow up experiencing Red River Métis ways of life, as I did back in the 80s. My ancestors are the Ducharme's from St. Anne/St. Rita, Blondeau, and LaFrambois.
I am passionate about ensuring Red River Métis culture and knowledge systems are amplified throughout all colonial services. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge of our collective history, land based knowledge, and promoting land based programs for our people. For the past decade I have been developing programs and services for communities through Sports, Culture and Tourism. For the past 4 years I have assisted in coordinating Red River Métis Pride events and activities and ensuring our funding is supporting our local Métis economy. As an entrepreneur, my vision and expertise allows me to create useful and practical programs and services which fill gaps , and allow for maximum impact. I had the opportunity to share Red River Métis History and Culture with the Prosecutors of Manitoba, many schools and Girls Guides of Canada. I've worked closely with many boards and municipalities, to implement and encourage accessible recreation opportunities, and more community pride for Red River Métis. The Pride Inclusion flag was displayed at the Winnipeg Region office because I met with Vice President Carrier when I was Chair, and presented it as a gift and asked them to show their support of our locals by proudly displaying the flag, which they did.
At the 2025 AGA I presented a resolution with my Local, which was accepted by the assembly, to have the MMF find ways to support Sports, Recreation, Culture, Art and dance. I actively attend consultations and symposiums and encourage our Governments departments to align with environmental sustainability and use money for more practical and life changing opportunities. Throughout my life, I have volunteered my time and knowledge to help make the world a better place. Not everyone is made to work in offices. I live with AuDHD and advocate for those who are unable to. My strength is finding solutions to gaps which make life difficult for others.

With a heart for accessibility and supporting neurodiverse community members, I developed Sound Lab Mb. which brought music programs throughout Southern Mb. for participants to experience music exploration through headphones. Dubbed the "Silent Music Program" this venture removed social and economic barriers for youth living rurally. Through this venture, I realized that kids and families were not spending time outdoors in their community parks or historical spaces, and created SAYZOONS, a land based program introducing new activities and teaching survival skills and leadership. My family has also been home share providers for an adult male with disabilities for the past 6 years. With my contract work, I brought accessible sports programs to rural and remote communities since 2019. I am a Archery instructor, and have been a community coach for curling.
Ensuring that all people are able to access programs or at least be empowered with the information to make decisions for themselves have been important to me. Sharing our history and culture is my favorite part of my business, empowering youth all the way to our survivors in their connection to this land and our people.

SAYZOONS was created in 2019, and became a winner in the Indigenous Business plan writing contest, Dragons Quest, for delivery of high quality, Red River Métis knowledge based, spring and summer camps for school aged kids. On a contract with the MASRC, SAYZOONS travelled Manitoba and supported the development of sports and recreation programs. I brought programs and services online, long before the Province introduced " SAFE AT HOME" during the pandemic. SAYZOONS also created barrier free access to recreation equipment for families to enjoy time on the land together in St.Malo, St. Pierre-Jolys, Otterburne, Grunthal, Kleefeld, St. Adolphe, Landmark, Dominion city and Emerson, Woodlands, Gross Isle, Trehern, Gods Lake, Lac Brochet, Brandon, Gods Lake, Pinaymootang, Landmark, St. Anne, Richer, Grand Rapids, Dakota Valley, Birdtail to name a few. My ability to negotiate and build relationships is instrumental to my success. I would bring this energy and experience to my role as Regional Executive Officer. I would work with ease between regions based on my relationships I have made.
In 2026, SAYZOONS won the Traditional Economies award of Excellence from the Red River Métis Business Development. I am now a Mentor for a Youth entrepreneur through the LRCC.

Through the Pandemic, SAYZOONS supported tourism ventures and welcomed visitors from near and far to experience land based activities in the Rural South. With the knowledge that Red River Métis people in the south were still very quiet about being Red River Métis, I became a full time researcher and developed story and tourism opportunities to amplify the Red River Métis connection to the lands around us. At the time there were people who were not Red River Métis building red river carts, donning our sash and travelling the Crow Wing trail. I remember my sense of connection to my ancestry. We are still here, we are still alive, we have our stories to tell. I became a fierce advocate for Red River Métis at a grass roots level. Over time, I became extremely knowledgeable and began offering Red River Métis history and cultural programs on the land, then in the classroom. My core competency is developing relationships with community. When you are actively living in the present, and being part of this community, it becomes really simple to address the gaps and make change to improve the programs and services being provided. I spent a lot of my time going beyond the colonial rhetoric and articals to seek our true stories. Ones which allowed people to feel confident to come into our Nation, and ones which empowered youth to take ownership of these lands as theirs.

Growing up, I remember saying "I am Métis" and then being told to not tell anyone that. That made me want to tell everyone. I have spent my lifetime defending our Indigeneity, and longed for people to accept and learn what it actually meant for me to be acknowledged. Today, I am still fighting for colonial systems to stop lumping all people in under one umbrella, and to do more work around getting to know all the Nations in Manitoba so they can accurately name programs, and highlight who is responsible for the culture they are sharing. My daughter is a proud Red River Métis and joins me at programs I am delivering. At her school she has been learning Ojibway, I feel sad for her that we do not have more Métis programs in schools, because of this, I created and offer programs in schools. I had hoped to join the Michif cohort this year, looks like we will have to create our own.

I grew up with tea in a teapot, mini sandwiches, music and bonfires. As a youth I would spend time at my aunts and great aunts homes and help cut grass, or wash windows and from those times would learn about old ways of life in St.Vital. How our Métis roots were strong here, but rarely spoken about. I am Winnipeg and Manitoba through and through. I really get along well with our seniors, and I hear them talk about how they are left out of a lot of programs and services. This hurts my heart. Our grandparents and parents did not have a strong MMF government to support them, And they need it now. I worry for our parents of young ones. the ones who are struggling with day to day, inflation and balancing life and work. Why can't we support them more through programs and services. I am also wanting to ensure all of the buildings, staff and programs delivered last more than a lifetime. Cedar, my daughter, when she is older, 11 years from now, will she have education, houses, good jobs, medical support from our government? This next four years is vital to ensuring that each path is laid out to ensure there is another 4 years to start implementing strategies to prove there is long term success.
There is an anticipated 10 million dollars for each year, I would sure like to ensure that Seniors and barrier facing citizens have all their needs met. We should not have to choose who we support, we should find ways to support everyone.
I want everything accessible, no shell game, no side of table announcements. Everything up front and available to all.
I never want people to miss out because they weren't on an email list, or subscribed. I want to ensure we are not limiting how our citizens get information. Right now, I feel like I am looking at too many sources and think it's time for all the Departments to get together and create a yearly budget, a program plan and a calendar.
The Winnipeg Region active Locals, each get $10000 for their LCG, how many websites is that? How many space rentals is that? Is there a way for everyone to work together year to year to make those dollars last longer and support more people?

I am hugely passionate about Red River Métis Bison culture. Our history on the plains, and our Red River Cart. The entrepreneurship of our people. As an entrepreneur, I am connecting to our roots here as best I can to be community based, knowledge sharing, and supportive of all traditional economies and business ventures. I want to see all of our Locals thrive and function to the best of their ability, and one is to learn with each local does best so Locals can begin working together.

I have spent the last 4 years of my life connecting to our government through local executive leadership, with the goal of running for this regional election. I have been committed to learning an leaning in to the processes of our Region. I started as Chair for Two Spirit Michif then Vice Chair of Lii Michif Otipemisiwak 2SLGBTQ+ and Allies Local, and have moved to the position of Chair as of 2026.
My priority is always to be authentic, and deliver programs and events without politicking and positioning. The work I do is heart work, and I have always committed to doing this work without other motives.
I pledge to support organized, and simple administrative roles of our executives, so you can show up for your locals, without fear and being bogged down by added paperwork. I pledge to ensure that training opportunities are available and mandatory for all executive members and that locals are able to be self sufficient and do great work. I would also like to let you know that I support collaboration and Locals working together to streamline events and services. Winnipeg can blossom with Red River Métis Pride.
I want to support the MMF in creating a 2SLGBTQ+ policy and research position, an affiliate to the MMF which directly supports education, inclusion, and training, to ensure that 2SLGBTQ+ are respected and valued throughout all of the MMF departments, communications and applications. To ensure that money provided to support 2SLGBTQ+ are managed and utilized by and for 2SLGBTQ+ community. I want to ensure financial clarity and strategic planning within the region.
I would love to see Locals in MMF buildings, the one Citizens are told are ours. I want to see Executive members paid for their work and their time, and have opportunities to be more involved in Cabinet meetings, and decision making in budgets. I want to see Locals receive their funding all at once, to do as they wish for their local within the guidelines provided.
Being a realist, I know that the things I want to do may never happen. I am a problem solver and negotiator. Change takes time. I am not afraid of NO because there are so many ways to YES. I have the mindset and the passion to discover the ways to YES. I will always do what can be done within the way things are. Right now I see 30 locals scratching the surface at what is possible, historically, our communities would be working together, not separately. And many citizens are not even connected to services MMF or the locals offer. I would like to see that change. We need numbers, and empowerment. We need to have more people in our region attending AGA and having a voice. The MMF would save money, have more engagement, we would be able to have electronic and recorded voting available to the members to ensure their voices are counted. We would have more people at the polls casting their vote for President and Regional officials. My biggest asset is being able to seek information and retain knowledge as well as passing it along. I am ready to do some real work for our people. I would like to see more programs available for our Seniors and parents. I would love to see the food security program continue as well as developing temporary work systems for those who can commit to short term work options. My dream is to work towards holding the portfolio in Culture, Heritage and Sport, Identity Protection or supporting our National Historic sites, developing Tourism and land based economies, 60s Scoop and Residential Day schools. Or a new affiliate 2SLGBTQ+ Secretariate. It has been my dream for along time.

In 2023, I began working with survivors of the 60s scoop and Residential and Day schools. Much of my work revolved around recreating historical spaces which felt like warm cozy Red River Métis cabins. A place to rest, regulate and find comfort through tough content of the symposium. These spaces were also curated for folks to reconnect to Red River Métis traditional and historical ways. Programs have evolved and I was lands and knowledge keeper for a first ever retreat for RDS Survivors and continual programs focused on food, culture and belonging. Keeping home fires going and considering comforts are priorities for me. I was raised hospitably and so I share that with others. Ensuring everyone feel safe, warm, and most of all cared for. I adore coordinating events and bringing people together. Event planning and community development has been my one of one for many years. I do not turn away an opportunity for planning events.

Operates as a social enterprise with funds being put towards the next program, activity or lowering the cost of programs for schools. Most of my work with community is no cost, or low cost.
